Shortly after our 69th anniversary pilgrimage, we decided to hold a summer BBQ at our HQ just outside Chester and to invite local WWII veterans to come along for a sunny afternoon reunion! We timed it well, with the event taking place at the beginning of the July heatwave.
D-Day Revisited is run from an original 1930s RAF building, so we thought it would be the ideal backdrop for a bit of a WWII themed do! We had a replica Spitfire on display and an original war surplus Triumph Speed Twin Motorcycle to play with. Our neighbours Cheshire Classic Cars kindly offered to do a few trips around the site in their beautiful vintage automobiles which was much enjoyed by all.
Thank you to the City of Liverpool branch of the RBL for collecting veterans in the Merseyside area and driving them over to our HQ for the event. It was lovely for us to catch up with our veteran friends and their companions and we suspect they might have enjoyed it too!
Thanks to our Secretary & Treasurer Victoria Phipps for the photographs.
