On the 7th of December 15 of our veteran friends and their loved ones met at the Racquet Club Hotel in Liverpool for a spot of Christmas lunch! On such a cold day, everyone appreciated a warm welcome from the staff, who had prepared a cosy and festive dining room for us all.
There were smiles all round as dear friends, who we usually only see once a year in Normandy, arrived and many commented what a lovely reunion it was!

A delicious three course lunch was served, after which John Phipps made a short speech thanking everybody for making the journey to Liverpool that day. It had been a last minute idea of Victoria’s and we were thrilled so many veterans were willing and able to attend.

The event drew to a close just as the light began to fade. Those who had travelled from further afield had arranged to stay overnight locally, whilst others were heading straight home. The D-Day Revisited team made sure everybody’s transport was organised and we said our goodbyes with many replying, “…see you in June!“.
For some of the volunteers it was their first visit to Liverpool, so a small contingent agreed to meet up later that evening and show them the sights. Needless to say it was a late night in the Cavern Club!
